Most of us are convinced of the need to tie together systems over a WAN. Logistics, commerce, and design systems from different companies need to be able to reach out and touch each other over a network.

In particular, it seems like there is a need for tools that would facilitate building connections between systems. These are not just communications, but some partial integration of systems, in a federated fashion.

As I said, most of us are convinced. But where are our examples? Does anyone have any good examples that they could share that show the clear benefits of integrating systems from different companies?
