--3rd ASME Design for Manufacturing Conference Omni Hotel at CNN Center Atlanta, Georgia September 13-16, 1998
The theme for the 1998 ASME Design for Manufacturing Conference is "DFM in Preparation for the 21st Century". Papers are solicited in all core areas of design for manufacturing as well as new challenges, paradigms and opportunities that arise with recent rapid progress in Information Technology and Global Enterprises. This conference solicits both fundamental research and cutting edge industrial practice papers with a goal toward bringing together DFM practitioners from universities, industries and government organizations.
Papers are solicited in the following areas, but not limited to:
- Assembly Modeling - CAD and Planning Integration - Computational Methods for Virtual Manufacturing - Computer Supported Collaboration / Cooperation - Concurrent Product and Process Design - Cost Estimation - Design For Assembly - Design For Remanufacture / Service - Design Prototyping - Design Synthesis / Generation - Environmentally Conscious Design and Manufacturing - Mass Customization - Network-Centric CAD - Practical Issues in DFM - Solid Modeling Techniques - Virtual Reality in Design and Manufacturing
All papers will be reviewed for simultaneous presentation at the conference and CD-ROM publication in the conference proceedings. Title page must include address and telephone number of contact, key word(s), and an abstract. Papers must not exceed 6,000 words. Papers of special note will be further reviewed for the IBM Best Paper award. This awards consists of 1000 dollars cash award and an ASME plaque.
