Dimensions of the EI Problem from a CIMOSA  Perspective

EI is not a pipe dream.  Enterprises integrate their operations 
every day.  The EI initiative seeks BETTER EI.  The requirements 
for better EI include more open, vendor independent solutions.  
CIMOSA is an open solution which covers much of the EI space.  
Therefore, the approach which the program has taken can be 
illustrative of the solution decisions to be made generally, and 
arguments can be raised about the appropriateness of CIMOSA's 
specific choices.  The paper discusses CIMOSA in the context of 
the extended reference taxonomy.
 
The utility of the paper is twofold.  First, it makes the 
taxonomy real by describing an example in more detail than in the 
previous papers.  Second, it shows some surprising strengths of 
the underlying approach of CIMOSA in the EI context and discusses 
their relative merits.  (The contents of the paper are extended 
from discussions on this topic held at a preworkshop workshop in 
Brussels.)
