CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES
The quest for improvement necessitated by competition in the marketplace continually expands the knowledge base. This quest translates into research conducted by both universities and corporations. The result of application of this research and the expanded body of knowledge base in our workplace will be improved competitive position for our businesses and a better quality of work life. This conference is intended to showcase the knowledge gained from original research and practical application of established theory in the field of integrated resource management. Academia will be introduced to the successes of practitioners and the direction of corporate research. Practitioners will be acquainted with the results of original research of academia. A partnership between knowledge and application will be cemented through a sharing of experiences in the quest for improvement.
CONFERENCE LOCATION
The conference will be held on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). UTA, located in the heart of the city of Arlington, is in the center of Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex which is home to many of the nations leading industrial, distribution, and service organizations. The area is the premier manufacturing and logistics hub of the Southwest.
CONFERENCE EXHIBITIONS
Space will be provided for tabletop display of products and services related to the conference theme. Exhibitors should contact Conference Chairs for and Exhibitor Prospectus.
CONFERENCE TOPICS
The conference will include keynotes, invited and contributed papers on research and practical applications, for publication in the Conference Proceedings. Specific topic areas, as shown below in major/minor subdivisions, will coincide with the APICS Certified in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM) curriculum:
1. Customers and Products A. Product Design and Development B. Marketing and Sales C. Field Services
2. Logistics A. Production and Inventory Control B. Procurement C. Distribution
3. Manufacturing Processes A. Process Design and Development B. Manufacturing C. Industrial Facilities Management
4. Support Functions A. Total Quality Management B. Human Resources C. Accounting and Finance D. Information Systems
Workshops on related topics will also be presented.
CALL FOR PAPERS
Abstracts of papers with author biographies are invited on the topics listed and within the general theme of the conference. Four copies of the abstract of 250-500 words should be submitted to the conference chairs by November 15, 1995. Abstracts should clearly state the purpose, results, and conclusions of the work to be described in the final paper. In the upper right hand corner of the abstract, reference the intended major/minor subdivision from the topic list, 4.A-Total Quality Management for example. Authors of accepted abstracts will be notified by January 8, 1996. The full length paper must be submitted by March 29, 1996. Speakers must be registered and formally present to have papers appear in proceedings. All abstracts and inquiries should be mailed to either of the conference chairs.
